Welcome, My Dearest,
I know that during Pride Month, you might be thinking: What should I watch that’s special for Pride?
So, I’m going to share with you some of my favourite LGBTQI+ themed films.
Maybe your evening will be filled with love like a rainbow. Maybe with a bit of sorrow, but always with hope.
Happy Pride Month to you, and to all the loving colours of our rainbow: Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Nonbinary, Asexual, and All…
By the way, the films I’m sharing this time are mostly love themed and gay centred.
LCV (Lütfen Cevap Veriniz)
A Turkish production based on a true story, a three-character play that takes place over the final hour shared by a bride, a groom, and the groom’s best man.
Is it enjoyable? Yes, because the acting is truly fantastic.
Is it emotional? Definitely.
It may make you cry at the end.
But it’s one of those films that you’ll be glad you watched. It leaves a mark.

Maurice
A film produced in the 1980s, adapted from a novel. It’s a romantic love story.
It’s probably not a spoiler to say this, but the ending is a good one.
The acting is top quality, and the emotion is portrayed with intensity and care.
I’m sure it’ll touch your heart.
And the ending is romantic, it’s positive and open ended.
Some sources also mention it’s inspired by real life.

Call Me by Your Name
This one is a classic. It has a deeply moving soul and touches the emotional bonds of romantic relationships.
It warms you from the inside, but the ending may leave a bit of sadness.
No spoilers here, but I’ll say this. The ending is one of the sad.
However, if you’re not expecting a happy ending and you’re in the mood for drama and romance, I highly recommend watching it.

The Weekend
This film carries themes of loneliness and love. It’s a short but very sincere love story.
To be honest, the final scene gave me a similar feeling to the Turkish film Issız Adam (sorry for the spoiler).
But in my mind, I rewrote the ending myself.
I think unhappy endings in love stories really break my heart.

Shelter (2007)
This film is, quite simply, about the beach and love… A gay movie with ups and downs, but ultimately a happy ending. It won’t leave you in tears, but with a smile. By the end, you’ll feel a sense of peace. It’s the essence of a romantic and responsible relationship. The ending feels like the beginning of new responsibilities and hopes for the characters’ future. While watching this beachside love story, you’ll feel warmth in the depths of their gazes and be filled with love.

My Child (Benim Çocuğum)
If you haven’t watched it yet, My Child is another strong recommendation.
In my opinion, it’s one of the best portrayals of LGBTQI+ parenting ever made.
If you’re out, it’s a great film to watch with your parents.
I truly recommend it for that reason.

Modern Family (TV Series)
And if you really just want to laugh a bit, a few episodes of Modern Family might be just what you need.
The bond between the characters is incredibly sincere.
Will it make you laugh and warm your heart at the same time? Yes.
It’s the kind of show that truly makes you feel good.
Language : English
Honestly, I could recommend dozens more films, but I think I’ll keep this list short for now.
If you end up watching any of them, I hope you enjoy them deeply.
With love,
Deniz
